I recently saved up some money and christmas season is coming so i'm going to get more :D Currently i have a small peavey amp that just whimpers everytime i plug my stingray in, i'm looking for a better amp to save my peavey from all the pain :D

Well your going to get a lot of opions on this (here we go again). I have a GK 1001-RB and neo 212 and 115 and cannot complain as GK rather enhances the Stingray growl. The hot item on this forum is Markbass though it is not widely available in the US yet. One thing I know for sure, you gotta SR 30th you definitely need to upgrade cuz you ain't let that beast out of it's cage yet. Good luck;) ;)

Truthfully, in my opinion, any high-quality amp will make your 'Ray sing like an angel. Take your pick: GK, Eden, Ampeg SVT, Aguilar, Ashdown, SWR, F*nd*r, Thunderfunk, markbass (the big thing here, right now), etc...

Personally, I've always been partial to an SVT... but then there is the weight issue. And there are certain amps that I just don't like that much (some on the list above), but that's just me. Really, you need to go to the shop and run through as many as you can and compare. I know that I was all set on a certain amp based on popularity, but when I actually tried it out, I hated the sound--everyone else seems to like it. So, it's a very personal matter. Try some! My favs are Ampeg SVT, Aguilar, and Ashdown. Again... just me.

Right now I'm using a Carvin 1900 watt head, Avatar 1x12 and 1x15 cabs (great cabinets and head for small prices! :) ). They sound amazing.

I've just let go my SVT-2 pro and 810 because of the weight. Most of the venues we play in have dedicated pa's installed and tend to be upstairs. It was getting tedious dragging those beasts up the stairs and my two partners in crime in the band would do disappearing acts whenever I needed a hand!! Went to London and tried a Markbass (LM-II with 102P and 151 cabs) setup and was sold! It's coming this week so I'll let you all know what the 30th sounds like through it when it arrives.

Markbass gear is now in 30 Guitar Center locations across the US (see MARKBASS for our dealer locator) and you can also order Markbass from any GC straight to your door.
All Markbass products sold in the US come with a 60-day exchange policy and a 2-year Performance Guarantee.

Cheers,
Peter

LM II with 102 cab. In your price range, light, and funky yellow and they make EBMM's sing and cut through. If you want to spend up toe $1500, then I would consider NOT getting a combo so you can upgrade/add later (like a 151). Just don't know about availability, though, where you are.

I play mine through an SWR 350X, head and mesaboogie and Ampeg SVT cabinets. I get a real warm, punch that really makes the Stingray sing.

Ritchie,

Call your local GC and see what they say.

Of course, you can't dazzle them with your smile over the phone, but still.

Call them again and tell them you're waving around great heaps of cash and that you want one now.

If you can speak with a really deep, resonant voice, I hear that helps, too.
