I like quilt, because it looks like waves in water to me. I just find that gorgeous. Flame just looks like stripes to me. But really, it's how the guitar sounds and feels that are most important.

That pacific blue in quilt is phenomenal... over the top? Perhaps, but I could stare at that all day.

Flame: fire, heat, passion. Have you seen my flame thrower?! Wicked cool.

Quilt: blanket, grandmother (granny's are great....no offense). Have you seen my quilt thrower? uuuhhh? Weak.

I'm just kidding, quilt looks great sometimes. I think I just see more inconsistency in quilts, which makes them unique, but I'd rather see a tight flame on my geet.

I do have to say that I love the "Guinness" effect that you get with some quilts.

I do feel cozy when I plug in a quilted guitar.
As for quilt thrower? naw..... A flaming death is rather violent. Violence is great every now and again, but I prefer a silent death... the kind people can't really see..... you could drown in some of those liquid-y quilts.

mmmm... morbid......

Um, how about - both? Seriously - there are soooo many gorgeous examples of both on this very forum - and in every color too. I like 'em all! :)

For example, I was at my local GC yesterday (buying Cobalt Slinkies - go get some. NOW!) and happened upon this beauty. Not my cup of tea, but it was pretty enough for me to take a photo!
