So after the AL disapointment thread concerning birdeye necks, what about the other white wood? How many flamed necks are out there? There was an off hand comment about them at the open house but I was too punch drunk with sensory overload and didn't follow up on it. My EVH has crazy flamed maple neck / fretboard and I love the looks of it compared to the birdeye necks. It has aged to a beautiful honey yellow which lets the flame just jump out.

i remember a namm show ( i think 2000) where y'all had an albert on display that was flamed to death !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. not only was the contrast very vivid...but the flames were tight & super even all along the neck....& the front & the back of the headstock. it ruined me !!! i've never seen a more beautiful neck....

i haven't been the same since.......

Not a lot of birdseye and not actually flame, but I've got a dark/light wavey color pattern running down my neck almost like a barber pole. Don't know if its rare common or in-between, but I like it :D

I think they are beautiful too. If I could choose I think that a flame neck would compliment a quilt top quite well. Then again flamed wood compliments everything well.

mbgreene,Did you order that guitar or find it hanging in a store?Either way it's awesome...

That was an order placed last year when the Envy Green was introduced. Actually when I first opened it I was looking for the birdseyes that most people refer to, and, as I mentioned there was not a lot of "eyes". But then I just looked and noticed the color and grain pattern and thought it was outstanding. :D
