Some of the forum members will tell you that this is the best way to use the bongo! And since the bongo has a 18v preamp with neodymium pickups, i see how flats could work verry well with it!

One Bongo is strung with roundwounds. One Bongo is strung with Flats. They each have their character and feel. They both work well.

The EB cobalt flats have the best of both worlds to my ears. I have those on my Bongo 5HH, and it's very warm and rich sounding. Yet I can also dig hard and get some zing. I have rounds on my Bongo 5H for when I need to really cut through but I find myself really diggin the cobalt flats more and more.

Does it work well? Looking for a warm articulate sound. Searched youtube for samples, found nothing.

Go to my website Official Site of Bassist Dave Marotta listen to the track "Alright " .You may not believe it but thats a Bongo 5 single H with Cobalt flats recorded through a Markbass Multiamp with lots of grunge. Its not a warm sound on this track but you can hear what these strings are capable of. Without the grunge which has a ton of boosted highs they can offer a very warm sound. I use the Cobalt flats on my fretless basses as well both acoustic and electric .

So good Dave. Awesome playing and a great sound. Unbelievable that this was played with flats!
