Flats Question

i was thinking about trying some flats on my SR5 HH, but im a little skeptical.........
My band is progressive metal and i need to cut through the mix. Will flats give me a cutting tone? Will my highs sound muted, will my low-mids still be prominate (sp?).
If you have any flats suggestions that would possibly help me achieve this, i would appreciate it. Or else im probably going to stick with rounds

oh and if you have suggestion that is non ernie ball, just messege it to me, no need to give other brands free advertising lol

I'm not sure I would use flats for metal...motown maybe. Thats just me though.

Flats generally aren't a progressive metal kind of string, but who knows? Do you have anything to lose, except about $30?

On stage and on record, it all pretty much boils down to an eq thing. Your band may be all top heavy, grinding around up there, leaving you lots of room to fill out the bottom and bass mids. This would be made for flats, in my opinion.

Do you have a backup bass? Try flats on it, let them break in a few weeks, then try with your band. You might like.

well the SR5 is my back up, my Sterling 5 is my number 1
but ill try some on my Stingray and see how it goes

Not sure if it will cut but it will sound damn good. I use Chromes on my Stingray HH's and it is dub heaven
