Floyd Rose players: why?

I love the stability of my JP6's trem. I've had alot of guitars over the years, so I've had some experiences with most every type of trem out there. Original Floyds, Kahlers, vintage style, Floyd copies, Ibanez Lo-Pros...the trem on the JP's are about the best out there. I wouldn't trade it for anything out there.

Brent, all your other EBMM's besides the EVH's are hardtails, aren't they? The standard music man trem is the bomb, floyds just aren't worth it anymore

I understood the jp bridge was the same as the mm vintage trem in function but the bridge just had a different look.
Is that not the case?

-they've become used to it and it was the best floating trem system
-they haven't bought a jp yet!

Is this a fair analysis? It certainly describes me up until a month ago.

Well, ain't no use in making a demo video unless you run it through it's paces! Okay - maybe it was a little too abusive - but it did stay in tune nicely, huh?

Good question! - my tuner is at my workbench where I do all my re-stringing/polishing/adjusting/etc..... Still waiting on my no-good brother to finish making me the pedal board he promised! Then I'll get the tuner in front of the amp - finally!

is there a problem with floyd tremolo? i don't see too much problem with my floyd.. it stays on tune so great..

but , if the JP trem is the best and a "can do anything" trem, why does steve morse still prefers floyd rather than JPtrem.. and why does ernie ball still gives floyd option on their guitars(axis) rather than just put JP trem on all ebmm's model..

for me personally,i like the vintage trem better than floyd.. that's why i'm still saving for luke 2.. but i don't see any problem with floyd tremolos.. and i think everybody has their own preferences.. and i respect everybody's preferences (eventough i know what is the best for me)..

Absolutely, it was rash conjecture that I made above. I'm sure some players prefer Floyds for whatever reason, but no one in this thread has yet said they prefer a Floyd to a JP trem (although I'm sure those people exist)... again, I played a Floyd for years and loved it! But now I am a total JP trem convert.

Cool you like vintage tremolos. I've never played an EBMM vintage trem, actually, but I know I prefer full floating bridges. Have you played a JP?

yes i tried JP trem at a guitar center last year.. and it was an amazing experience (and it has a wonderful tremolo too) .. but my hands prefer to hold luke neck eventough the JP neck was also crazy..

but i think about the question why do people still like about something is difficult question to answer.. it just stay there in their heart even tough they know something is better than that..

some of JP fans who has JP guitars still keep and still use their ibanez JPM eventough maybe they know that ebmm JP is better than that guitar( i do think it's better)..

but basically i'm agree with you about that wonderful JP trem..

I have always had FRs (with the exception of the SUB) and kinda always thought that was the only way to have divebomb ability and tuning stability so the trem on the JP justs blows me away. It even feels much smoother than an FR and doesnt mean a huge chunk of metal sitting on top of your guitar.

Another reason why I stuck with a Floyd for so long. I know how to setup a Floyd to the specs I need really well now. While I'm still getting used to the JP trem -- and I understand that the JP trem is only on the JP and no other guitars -- I can confidently say I don't hope to go back to a Floyd. What a hassle.

Oh, and BP, I'll say it again... this thing is amazing! I was slamming the trem for those wobbly krranngg kinda notes (don't think there is a tech word for it) and the thing just wouldn't go out of tune. Oh, and the tone. The tone.

I can't speak for the JPs. I like the MM vintage tremolos alot, but I still feel and I maybe wrong that the Floyd could take more of a beating. I think alot of it has to do with how aggressive a person uses their tremolo. The locking nut was always huge to me in the staying-in-tune factor.

I'm not complaining, because I love my ASS's, but guitars with Floyds stay in tune better, at least for me. I could go for weeks without tuning. I definitely prefer the unobtrusiveness of the Vintage trem.
