Just got back from the Canary Islands. We were at the end of a European tour and flew from Germany to Gran Canaria for our final show. The promoter convinced me to leave my Bongos behind because the airlines only allow 22kilos(about 40lbs) per person. He offered his personal Stingray 5 for me to use.The tour manager still shelled over $600.00 US in excess baggage.
I was a bit concerned because I have'nt played a Stingray single pickup bass in years but this bass was nearly new and was set up properly.I slapped on a new set of Slinkys and it took no time to get used to it and dial in a sound.
Had I flown just one Bongo over in a flight case would have added another $300.00 in charges. Once again , the airlines are not being nice to us.
Somehow the Musicman basses have a common thread in the way they feel and sound which makes it easier for you to adapt to the bass when you can't use your own instrument.
