I'm just being curious. Why do you like the JP model that much? I mean, it's a great guitar, no doubt, but why choose to specifically collect JPs? Why not Axis? Silhouettes? ALs? Why JPs of all the EBMM models?

P.S. Do you collect any other guitars?;)

Ernie use to collect EVH's, but fell for the JP when it came out, if memory serves me right.

Once upon a time...

Okay, my first EBMM guitar was a Red Quilt Axis, really liked it alot, it was a hot rod compared to my Les Paul. I bought it used while I as waiting for a Green Axis I had ordered thru a local shop 'cause I'm a big baby and I hate to wait. I loved the neck and I thought the body was very freakin' cool and that 4 or 2 headstock was really cool. I also digged the Dimarzio's. Anytime a cool Axis came up on ebay for around 900 I would snag it. During this time I found out the Axis was originlly the EVH, so being curious, I snagged one of them off eBay. Searching for rare stuff and collecting has always been in my blood, so I started seeking out EVH's and collecting them.

All of that changed on 12/5/01 when I played a Pet in a GC. It was a MD with matching headstock. The neck was unbelievable! The looks, wow! I plugged it in, wow! I bought it right there, on the spot. I couldn't put it down for weeks, I swore it made me a better player, like the neck was made for my hand. Then I wonderd, who is tis guy Petrucci? I bought the Scenes CD, and holy crap, this guy is amazing!

I stopped playing the EVH's and Axis's, I felt I couldn't go back to that chunkier neck. So, now whenever I saw a cheap Pet on eBay, the collector in me wanted to snatch it up. So the bug hit me, I started collecting Pets, but found myself running out of room to store everything, so the other EBMM's had to go. Early on, I didn' have the urge to get a Pet in every production color, when I decided that, the sparkles and some other finishes were discontinued, which made it a challenge (and lots of fun to me) to search Craig's list, eBay, and other places to find them. So in a nutsell, I love the Pet, and I love to collect.

As far other guitar, yes, I have a few. I have all 5 JPM's, an '84 Les Paul (my first real guitar), a Carvin DC 400c, an '86 Schector Mercury, 3 EVH's, 1 Axis (the Red Quilt), 2 of the first made Silhouettes, and a Silhouette Baritone.

You caught me. I was trying to make my collection seen more impressive. ;)

I must have gotten a little too lazy with the copy-n-paste on that one. I did that for a few others, but caught the mistake. I shall fix.

Heh... You started with the RIGHT album man!:D

You should attach a story to every purchase you made on the site. Not just about the colours, but what you had to go thru to get each and every one.

I was at Ernie's a few years ago. Man, it is more impressive seeing them all up close. He has some other gems in there are well not mentioned. Ernie has a great collection....but more important....Ernie is a smokin' guitar player.
