All you guys are high.

May as well ask Steve, John, Luke, and Albert (and I suppose that Benji fellow) to deliver the guitars to ya, and come in and jam a while.

So go through the dealers who are also forum members? There's at least 2 on this board, Bassplyr (Doug? I believe) and I.....

I would do it as long as the prices were set in stone by EB, I wouldn't even care if there was no dealer margin, just roll it right out the door, and what would normally be dealer margin goes to CLBF :D
Hey Pete! maybe we could try it this way. Call Ernie and ask them point blank, "How many guitars would I have to order to get a custom color like Grape Dawn?" Make them give you a number. Tell them that profits from the sales would go to the CLBF. Then lets call everybody's bluff and see who is made of what. Do it Pete!

I have to agree with all the nay-sayers on this subject. The cost to pull off limited runs must be high. Then to offer it to forum members only limits the customer base to a handful, making it truly cost-ineffective. All the guys clamoring for some sort of special treatment should practice real hard to become an EBMM
artist. Then you would have a little juice with EBMM and maybe get an axe made in a discontinued finish.

I really don't think that a special LE color would be such a pain for EBMM to implement. Surely they test new colors from time to time, and some of them don't see the light of the production line, right? Maybe they could resurrect one that didn't make the cut, or come up with a new one like the proposed Grape Dawn.

So, maybe that's all there is to it. Order a guitar of your choice from the existing catalog, but you get it in the limited color. Of course, this would probably limit the possibilities to non-transparent colors only, as some models (JP, Bongo) generally don't have fancy tops to show off through trans-colors.

If the difficult task of agreeing upon a single color could be achieved, then I don't see what would be so hard about making it happen (assuming we're not talking about the taboo 'sparkle' finishes). Big Poppa predicted a 5-year wait for a consensus, and I sure hope that's not the case!

Edit:

I just thought I'd mention that in no way do I have some sort of entitlement mentality about this stuff. I'm just agreeing with those who think that there would be a much better chance of pulling off a 'forum LE' if it's no too radical a departure from the norm {NorM?}. Thus, make it as easy as possible for Music Man and maybe they will graciously consider the request.

A practical solution to all of this is to have Sterling hand sign a Certificate of Authenticity to the forumite buying any current guitar or bass in any current color available. They could print it with your real name or forum name. This way there is no extra major production cost and we forumites get a lil something extra the public does not. How does that sound??
