it took me a while but i got it nailed last night. While i do love the different tones i can get from the 25th bass i also needed to get a setting that i could play most of the gig with.last night was a full on show where i dont get a second between songs so i find it easier just to leave it set in one position.I call all the songs and sets and spend more time doing that than i would like.

i think thats why i love my SR5 so much as it really is point and shoot,it will always sound amazing.but

used my LMII head into a markbass 4x10 4ohm,had the mids rolled off a touch and a small bit of VLE (around 3 o clock)
the bass was on the hum and mid pick up in active with just a small bass boost.

the sound was pure class, really cut through.the sound guy loved it and an old guitar pro was at the gig and was just amazed at the tone and looks of the 25th.

normally i stick on my stingray 4 banger at the only break i get but last night i could not put down my 25th.It an amazing bass

ps it came very close to getting its first ding !!and i came very close to crying:eek:
so much for my manly "i bought it to play it"

Cool Dave but, what particular pickups selection did you use that felt so much at home with you?

Active / Passive ? and which buttons up or down?

Personally I am very fond of the 2 singles switched on in passive with the tone control down a couple of notches, what's yours?

the hum and middle pick ups in active mode and small bass boost.in the studio i love the mid pick up on its own in passive, with the tone nearly all the way up

you could go on for days about the different tones....and i will !

For me, I found that I love (so far...) the brdige H in active and parallel mode, eit a little boost on the bass (something around 6) amd treble around 4...sounds killer!

The middle alone active with a good boost on the mids sounds killer on the Big Al. How is it with the 25th?

Played "Another one bites the dust" (I know, I'm old) last night with 2 & 3 in serial on my 25th. Dropped the highs a bit and added a little tube on the RH450. That sounded absolutely perfect! Not like the original, lets say a similar color but a different texture. I'm starting to get into the neck and 2&3 sounds more now but most of our songs I play with bridge in parallel for more "cutting power".

Neck and middle sound awesome in the band, while I think the neck alone gets lost if you do not EQ it a lot.

The good thing is: If you want, you can!
