Ok, So I found this bass for 20 bucks at a garage sale. Its very cool looking, I know that much.

It has the serial number B003625, which after searching I found out comes from a 1977 Music Man if I am correct.

The problem is - The headstock does not say Music Man... How can you tell if the neck and Headstock are replacement? What does this mean?

Thanks in advance, appreciated.

I'd give you 40 for it.

Seriously, some bad things have happened to that bass, but it's a piece of history and completely worth cleaning up and making it a good instrument again.

Assuming the preamp and truss rod are ok, a new bridge, strings and some disinfectant will have that old girl rocking in next no time. There's at least a $1000 profit to be had there if you're so inclined.

Danny, thanks for re-posting the pics.

Congrats!!!

Great find. Now the question is where to get a string trough bridge. At least to me the pickup looks original, the corrosion does nothing to the sound.

But the body seems to be sanded down a little. It looks so small and rounded.

I'll give you 45...:D
