Freaking out - neck twisted....

So i just sent an EB to CS - but since it's saturday morning I was hoping to get some feedback, or happy ending stories, etc.

Haven't played this guitar in a while since I recently also got a PDN JP6 Picked it up and noticed the low E was fretting out higher on the neck. I quickly sighted down the neck and to my horror it appears twisted, the treble side actually has a little back-bow and the bass side a bit of relief (what i would consider normal).

Worse yet - the truss rod is completely loose. (i did verify it can be tightened) I have always kept my electrics wall hung. I keep my taylor in its case humidity controlled but that's it. The room says 45% right now.

My PDN is perfectly fine as are my JP70 and other 3 axes.

I'm freaking out because I sold my original new 2002 JP6 last year to get a used one with Piezo. When i got it the guitar was fine, but since it's used I don't know the history and I;m worried I have have gotten screwed.

Anyone seen anything like this? Was there a remedy? I don't imagine there is without replacing the neck.

You did the right thing by contacting Customer Service. They will have a few solutions for you.

Dang! I would be worried as well! They might find a solution... But, sorry to say so, that last picture sure doesn't look good to me!

They'll replace the bolt on neck(if need be) and you'll be rockin' in no time!

Stuff happens, but some companies ( like EBMM) take care of their customers.

The first picture was trying to show a bit of relief on the low end, the second shows a bit of backbow. The last picture makes me wanna cry!

Honestly the first two pictures don't tell me anything but yes, the angle of the frets compared to the top of the body in the last one is a concern. CS will tell you what your options are. Expect a reply Monday or Tuesday.

The slight back bow in the first troubles me since the truss rod is loose.

Be glad the maker of your guitar is still in business. I've got a usa peavey with a twisted neck. I'm screwed as they closed up their usa guitar plant years ago.

I know how you feel... I'm having issues with the neck of my Game Changer bought last September but like others have said, EBMM is known for their great customer service. Let us know how everything turn out.

Looks like I'm out my #1 for the foreseeable future. MM wants $800 plus shipping. I certainly won't buy another used MM. I had a perfectly great MD JP6 that I sold and got another for just to get the piezo option, and this is where I land.

Figured maple necks, at least the ones that are not baked, appear to be far more susceptible to twist. The twisted neck on my peavey is a single piece of stunning Birdseye maple. Damn shame. Makes me disinclined to buying fancy maple necks. I'll take the plain ones and leave the purdy stuff for the body.

You may be able to have the neck planed and refretted for way less than $800. Of course it may continue to twist.

If I was a jerk I would moisture/heat/clamp, get it playable and sell it. Really don't know what to do now. If I did get it replaced I would want to send the entire thing to get re-set up, but shipping would be another $80 at least, and who know how long since they would have to make a neck from scratch. Really disappointing.

Hey the above was not aimed at the previous seller at all, just venting on how to fix this. I understand the warranty, kinda shocked at the cost. More disappointed in the product and never ever expected to have an issue with these guitars.

True, also new guitar older than one year = no warrantee coverage. The funny part is I have a $99 ukulele that comes with lifetime warranty on the neck...go figure.

related question: what can cause a neck to twist like that? and what can be done to prevent that form happening?
is a twisted neck normal or would hat be considered a production fault?
