In the spirit of Memorial Day here in the USA, it feels appropriate to me to offer some downloads of my album, West ZooOpolis, with drummer Marco Minnemann. I dedicated it to my fellow Navy SEAL brothers in general, and to a few special doowds in particular. With this in mind, I hope you enjoy the music and have a great day.

The music: there are 4 tracks you can go download guilt-free. One pair of tunes is from the opening of the album, and one pair from towards the end. Note that the entire album was written over a 52-minute non-stop improvised virtuosic drum solo Marco knocked out one evil morning. Several composers were invited to take on this Himalayan challenge: Mike Keneally, Trey Gunn, Alex Machacek, Phi Yaan Zek. A few other masochistic composers joined the fun later in the game as well.

It should be pretty easy to hear all the EBMM Morse in these tunes - with the exception of track 02 "Floridy Motorbungalow", which uses my trusty vintage EB Pedal Steel as the main electric instrument.

Just scroll to the bottom of this page from the Hectic Watermelon website:

Fantastic John.

Really appreciate the free downloads; it will be especially guilt free when I buy it too!

Awesome playing, and great feel from what I hear so far.

Hi John,

That CD has been living in my car for months and getting regular play. Any local gigs on the horizon?

Thanks Sticky and Bob, so nice to hear you are enjoying the music.

Bob, sadly the enormity of this last project forced my band to get set on the back burner. Now that this is done and out there, I've been getting back to writing more for HWM2. I have several sounds and approaches I'm working with. Probably gonna hear much more acoustic instruments this time. I will also not sweat trying to write for the live performance aspect as much either in order to give me more freedom for more involved textures and orchestration.
