Holy S#$%%#@%T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I go and teach my kids for a bit and look what happens.

I pound my 7th and 8th graders every day that freedom of speech does not give you license to run off at the mouth (after all "fire" in a theater is a huge no-no – and I know that is a unequal comparison, but you still can’t just flap your jaws). This, even though it is open to the public, is a private forum and can be moderated as such. BP and the gang are usually pretty cool with what goes on here; when they aren't, they have good reason to be (after all he is paying the bills on it).

Say what you want to about BP and EBMM not taking criticism, but I have never had a problem. I speak my peace or ask a question, get a reply, and drop it. Case in point, I said I thought the HH Bongos should have the bridge pup in the same position as the H. BP explained the process, I understand, it's over. No amount of b!tching and whining is going to move the pup and what BP explained to me makes sense from a business standpoint.

I'm a teacher and a part-time bass player, what do I know about EBMM's business model??? What do I know about bass design??? What do I know part fabrication??? What do I know about the electronic scheme behind the Bongo's pups??? Answer to all of the above - NOTHING!!! That is why BP has assembled the staff that he has. Collectively (and some of them, individually) they know more about basses and guitars than anyone on this forum. Can things be improved, and built-on… yes, but that is what his staff is for. They DO listen but screaming and tirades tend to close ears. Say “I don’t like this,” or “This might be better in future models,” drop it and move on. If it good they might just hear you if not… oh well. It isn’t just about you and BP doesn’t have magic fairy-dust to fix the world’s problems.

I know what I like, and BP building basses to accommodate just what "I" like doesn't make sense and I know that. If it were truly an issue and I didn't like the other aspects of the Bongo, I have other EBMM basses to chose from, 1000s of “other” basses on the market, or I could have some one mod my bass - but where does it say BP MUST make me happy to the exclusion of everyone else or to the detriment of his business (he is a great guy but this is also his job).

You want to scream "Freedom of Speech" from the top of your lungs and expect people to listen and respect your opinions; you need to listen too... and not just take the words in. Digest it! Process it! You might just realize that BP and company know what they are doing (anyway, where else can you bend the boss’s ear on a company this big????? - bend his ear, drink with him, have him pose for silly picts with you, have him pick up the dinner tab, give away cool stuff, etc.).

Anyway, Christmas break has started (can you tell I have pent up energy  ) and I will get off my soap-box now.

In all seriousness.... I emailed CS at EB some years ago to ask for the birthdays of my SR's and (very cheekily) stated that I wanted a t-shirt. BTW, I live in the uk. One week later a package drops through my letter box!! Now... Beth (thanks luvvie!!) or anyone at EB didn't have to do that... It's just a measure of how far these guys go to keep their regular guys happy. BP strikes me as a boss very much 'on the coalface'. and long may his outlook continue. For anyone to knock this company regarding what they produce or how they handle their customers...... they need to rent the book of life and start at page one!

Que piensas tu, hombre sin cejas?

Primero, ya sabes que SI tengo cejas! In fact, my eyebrows seem to be implementing an expansionist policy. "We claim this forehead in the name of the eyebrows!"

Kevin, Merry Christmas! Can we still say that? If not, bite me! I mean, not 'bite me', um, happy holidays, you doofus!

when i post here in "non mod mode" the one thing i keep in mind is "dont tell Pop how to run his shop".

Amen, Cousin Arin, amen. Over the years, I've made some dumb assumptions and said some things that were not thought out very well and what can I tell you? I've learned and listened and although I know a hell of a lot more than I used to, I'm not sitting next to Dudley or having long philosophical talks with BP or looking over Drew and Jon's shoulders as they toil away.

Anyway, let's call this a thread since we now all agree, shall we?

yeh i agree. I dont ave a problem with people posting their opinions, but because this is THE EBMM site i think certain opinions should be kept quiet and expressed on other forums such as talkbass where people are free to express their opinions all day long.

I dont think anyone actually dislikes the Sr5 20th, how could you, its absolutely beautiful (hats off to the designers) but i think some people just spoke before they thought, which does show a lack of respect or regard.

Boston, chill dude. I talk to you all the freakin' time and know you're not a bad guy. You're just not expressing yourself in an understanding/mature manner. Are you entitled to your opinion? Of course. You play Warwicks and anyone that doesn't like it can kiss your rump, correct? Just don't try and bash what EBMM has worked VERY hard on. It would be like me going to a Warwick forum and telling them one of their new models looks like a pine tree on crack. I know you didn't mean any offense by your posts. Just saying bro, chill.

I'd have to say that this is one of my favorite forums to visit because most everyone is rational and has a sense of humor. I appreciate what the moderators are doing, and that BP cares about the company and product enough to keep his finger on the pulse by particiapting in the forums.

I can't think of another pretty big company where the honchos will actually talk to their customers.

Hate to sound like I'm just stroking everyone's slack-jawed nuts too much, so I'll sign off of this thread and continue with my search for the end of the internet.
