Fret Buzz On Sub1

just bought a sub1 yesterday 700 dollars and i asked they guy at store is this gona handle my tuning....he said yes!!! My tuning is..... dafcgc...... thats from high to low 1 hole step down and 2 on low e string now i get fret buzz really bad this way!!! I dont know if i should try and make adjustment? (if so which ones and how) or should i take it in. I bought guitar for the nice low action and i dont wana losse that so i really dont want someone else to set it up if i can help it..

please help me!!!!!!

You may need to check and adjust the relief on the neck. Details on how to do this are here.

If you've never done this before, take the guitar to a qualified guitar tech and get it set up for your string gauge.

my bridge is sitting on the body of the guitar shouldnt i adjust it off the body somewhat?

never had this kind of bridge on guitar but im guessing its not sposed to be on body becuse you cant use wammy bar any help please!!!!

That trem restson the body, for down pitch only, it's not supposed to float.

ok well i wana be able to adjust my guitar my self fret buzz is on 9th fret a string the worse, low E string buzzez also what steps should i take to fix this and keep my action low as possible!!!!

so bridge is spossed to rest on body never come off it?

actully 11th fret a string all over there is buzz on a and e strings just worst on the 11th fret a string help me please i spent alot of money to get a good guitar and it seems like the rest right now!!!!

Also if your planning on adjusting the truss, do so in 1/4 turns only. Nice and easy like. Otherwise you may over do it. I dropped on of my JP's to 'c' and used half a beefy slinky set and half a set of 11's and i needed to adjust the relief massively (this guitar needed to settle somewhat since it hung in a shop for like a year before I bought it new....the dust on everything in the shop was stifiling). I zero'd the bridge and adjusted the action and got it playing sweet. easy fix. good luck.

There are two things you gotta do when you drop tune a guitar like that:

1 - you have up your string guage to .011s (an .009 tuned down to a "C" is likely gonna buzz with any reasonable action)

2 - you have to COMPLETELY re-setup your guitar. You will not only have to tweak the truss rod to get the neck relief set correctly, but you will have to raise/lower the bridge saddles and adjust the intonation.

You should get the store you bought the guitar from to do the set up - they owe you one, I'd wager, seeing as how it's a brand new guitar. Just take it in to them and tell them exactly what tuning you want and say that we recommend a heavier guage strings. Then mention that you want the relief set properly and the guitar intonated. Once they've set it up properly, you can use that as a base line to start learning how to set up your own guitar, but if you think you can just say "I've got a string buzz when I down tune to this weird tuning and I spent a lot of money on this guitar and tell me how to fix it!" and we can post a message that gives you the magic bullet, you're fooling yourself. No guitar is self maintaining - they all need to be adjusted appropriately when you change things. Necks move, bridges need adjusting, the intonation has to be set, etc.

The bottom line is that it's clear to me from your previous posts that you do not have any idea how to set up your guitar and your guitar needs to be set up. Have a pro do the set up, ask him a bunch of questions, and buy a good book on guitar set up (like any of Dan Erlewine's) if you want to be able to do it in the future.

Thank you all great info, Sorry im nebie in seting up guitar i took it in watched them adjust relif, Asked qustion they tryed to adjust bridge and the buzz was still there i asked if i should go up in string gauge and they said i dint haft too!!!

I have read alot of stuff already i know i should go up in gage they sent it out to a guy said frets might need to be taped and dressed. So well see i just like my action low and thats why i bought it now im worried im gona get it back and the action will be a mile high

I very much doubt that a brand new Musicman would leave the factory in need of a fret dress! Sounds like the shop is trying to extract even more money out of you.

yea good thing im not paying it they said they would or ernie ball would they dint know if that was the problem though
