i went into soundcontrol ( a guitar shop) in jamaca street in glasgow today, in my lunch hour to enquire about the fret buzz on my newly aquired musicman bass sr5, he said "welcome to musicman" insinuating that this was a very regular thing for owners of musicman basses. he said he could fix it but it would reappear all the time like every couple of days/weeks, surely not man! i thought when i got one of these guitars i was buying an instrument that i would never have a problem with, everyone spoke of it in hallowed tones, "they have no wolf notes" they are guitar heaven etc etc, this fret buzz scene has put a big dampner on my dream of guitar heaven, tell me it's not true.....please......

If you can't navigate a message forum, then I guess you'll struggle with the concept of a truss rod and the effects of humidity and temperature.

Where on the neck?

I'm going to hazard a guess that you mean near the nut...

Ok...in my opinion, add slight relief (loosen the truss nut by moving it to the left...slightly...one hole at a time...looking from the heel towards the headstock) untill prob solved.

This man is a box of rocks.

Just so you know, we have lots of EBMM owners here, and not a single one of us, I would guess, believes this claptrap.

Who would play an instrument with inherent fret buzz? Not I, and to be clear, I have a boatload of Stingrays and Bongos and so on.

We can fix you up.

Pete, my comment was directed at the original poster, ie. the guy who signed up at this message board just to bag Musicman.

AussieMark-

I had a terrible night in the hospital last night (I am working "Night Float" as the surgeon on call for everything) and was way on edge and sortof experiencing a paranoid moment when I read your post.

I had posted a post a few days back asking about trussrod adjustments (and was told to do the search function- and felt a little newbieish about it) and thought you thought that:

I was calling the newbie a shumck-- which I was not.

And that you were making a comment about my dumb post earlier and my lack of experience with trussrods (obviously a sensitive subject!).

So please pardon my paranoid, passive agressive comment, and I appreciate your note.

Pete

I'll clear this all up:

It just so happens that Aussie Mark, herein AM, was talking to Daiz... um..., herein D, regarding the comment the guitar guy, herein GG, said about MusicMan bass guitars, herein MMBGs. Uvapete, here in UVP, responded with a comment that was directed towards D's experience with the GG about his MMBG. AM soon replied to D with a comment regarding the double posts D had made. UVP misinterpretted AM's remark as a derogratory statement directed at UVP. In fact, AM's comment, as stated above, was pointed at D's double posting. UVP pointed out that he, too, was speaking in regards of D. Later, AM cleared it all up a bit by stating that his original comment was pointed at D, not UVP. UVP also cleared it up with a follow-up statement. All the while DLL, RTB, BH, and D were conversing about fixing the problem on the MMBG and attacking the GG for his naiveness. SKB joined the thread later to concur with the statements DLL, RTB, and BH had made regarding D's experience with the GG. I, Midopa, herein M, then decided to clear everything up with this post. If I'm wrong, then I'm just talking to me, M.

Now that it's all settled, lets look at some more MMBG pornography. When's that official Show Off Your MMBG thread gonna start? I haven't had it for days now!

When reading my posts, please remember (1) I have an Australian sense of humor (2) I am economical with words, which means I can appear an asshat at times. Sometimes I intend to be an asshat, but not all the time.
