Fret buzzing question

Hello,

I recently obtained a beautiful 20th Silo via Ebay. Although the guitar was pre-owned, it was practically brand new. I have really been playing it quite a bit lately - it is really nice.

Today however, I noticed some slight buzzing on the A & D strings around the 20th fret. It's not bad, but when you are a fussy guitar player sometimes you notice these things. I am wondering if this may be due to the fact that the previous owner strung '10s on the guitar. I don't think he made any adjustments as it looks (to me) the same as my Silo Spec. It was tuned to Eb when I received it, but I always tune to E.

Do you guys think that changing from '9s to '10s would cause this slight buzzing. Conversely, should simply changing back to '9s alleviate the problem?

Beautiful 20th... And going from 9s to 10s will cause fret buzz if not properly compensated. I would either set it up with whatever gauge strings you use or have a good tech do a setup on it with your preferred string gauge. Good Luck

I think it might need a quick truss rod adjustment ! Loosen the truss rod , due to the string tension being less from going from a 10 gauge, to a 9 .

Great looking guitar!! Yeah, I think what Larry and Doug said would help alleviate the problem. Keep in mind the buzz is "in the pocket", so you may want to focus on the "bridge" height too.

As previously mentioned, the 9's straightened (less tension on truss) the neck, bringing the strings closer to the frets. The 10's did the opposite.
