Hey guys - Im looking at potentially purchasing a EVH Music Man and the one I found will most likely need a fret job. Will this in any way devalue the guitar if I put new frets on it? Taking away from the "all original" aspect of the guitar? Also, what does a good fret job cost these days? Just curious and thanks for any input!

For those not in the US, this option is not available. You're basically on your own. Luckily, one EBMM dealer local to me has an in-house repair guy who took care of re-fretting my Lukes. He did a great job.

Beej mention you have special privileges lol.

Even with the most anally retentive vintage guitar collectors refrets have become highly acceptable. It is now looked upon like buying an original Model-T Ford with no tires. You need tires to drive just like you need frets to play.

I just had a guitar ( my main Strat) refreted 18 years ago by Mat Brewster of 38 Street Guitars in NYC who is as good as they get, as anyone in the NYC area I am sure will attest to. He did a guitar for me 7 years before that which cost me $300. I was really shocked since I just brought it in and did not talk price but but music lol and also stated I wanted it re- radiused to 12" starting at the 12th fret which meant extra work. When I went and picked it up he charged me $300. I see you are in Cali and if you don't have someone you trust I personally would send it back to EBMM as your not going to get better work from anyone else.
