If they made a SUB Bongo (isn't that an oxymoron?), they'd probably use those little circles you used to put on the holes of your loose leaf paper to keep it from ripping in your three-ring binder.

I remember asking Dargin this very question in September 2005 at the SLO Open House Factory Tour, and I believe the answer was "plastic."
