Looking for some input from the bass side of life. We (my wife and I) are converting a bass to fretless (don't worry, no big surgery on a MM beauty - it's an OLP). This is pure R&D for us. I want to record a bass line while the fingerboard is bare, then the same line again after we apply a hard, clear coating we are experimenting with. The point is to try to define, for ourselves, the effect the suface has on tone.
I'm looking for suggestions on a good fretless bass line I could use, or at the very least, heavily borrow from for the purpose of the experiment. EBMM fretless basses are a staple for tone among musicians looking for this sound.
Here is Pino feeling it out on an EBMM fretless I just came across. Thanks for your input peeps.
