...from one of the fine MusicMan forum members, Syciprider. By his accounting, I am the 5th MM forum member to own this particular instrument following Small EQ, Jack, Adouglas, and Syciprider. Keeping it in the family....

Any stories to tell about this bass? Who got EB's signature on it? When/where?

I bought it from Paul (smalleq), who was the original owner. It's a great fretless bass; problem was that I am not a great fretless bassist. It was fun, though. I told Paul a couple of days ago, "If I wanted another fretless, that would be the one I'd want."

It's the one people now refer to as the SmallEQ model. Someone on Talkbass thought this was some sort of special run. Heh heh.

"What makes the EQ small?"

Sterling must have signed it when Paul had it.

The SmallEQ bass is fast becoming the forum bass heehee

She's got a beautiful piezo voice that you will love. Take care of her.

And I know it has at least one brother. Or sister; I never checked the gender.

This bass has completely met all my fretless needs. I can't imagine it getting any better.

Nothing like keeping it all in the family ;)

I remember those photo's that adouglas took of it, really excellent.

Enjoy it!

Are there any sound examples online where we can hear a fretless Bongo?

Alvabass has some great stuff on YouTube... Search for Fretless Bongo Bass and get ready for a real treat... Portrait of Tracy is done beautifully.

EDIT: here it is.

Yeah, thats a great bass. I almost bought it back from Syciprider, but at the last second remembered again why I sold it and every other fretless bass that I have owned. I'm glad somebody here on the forum got it. I'm sad that you can no longer order that finish, or else my Big Al would have totally gone that way.
