Hi guys! Sorry for the absence but after jamming with Marcus Miller I became a celebrity :p !

I have a 'spare' StingRay 4 and at the same time I'm in a need of a nice fretless bass. I'd like therefore to convert it into an unlined fretless. Any opinions on how to achieve this? As far as I'm aware EBMM will not exchange my fretted rosewood for a fretless neck so....has anyone here done sth similar?

Oh BTW, thanks Marleaux-User for your very kind comments about the Sterling mp3!

I'd go and have a word with Martin Peterson at the Bass Gallery in Camden, who should be able to fit a new fingerboard. Check out his work at http://www.seibass.com/

there are a few other options if you're not opposed to graphite.

moses graphite and there is one other I can't think of the name off the top of my head.

then there is always the aftermarket necks like warmoth and such.

I would'nt consider ripping the fretboard apart by anyone, no matter what.

Status do very nice Carbon Fibre necks for Stingrays. They have even made them for MM. Talk to Rob Green or even go to Colchester and see him. That way you could keep the original and return the bass to standard if you ever needed to sell it.
