I have flats on my 2 band SR4 unlined fretless and it sounds great.

Anyone playing fretless SRs with rounds?

Anyone try both and have a preference?

Thx!

Flats all the way on a fretless. I suck at fretless, but my fretless Sterling with flats sounds great when other people play it.

Love flats on my old fretless. I just had my FB on my fretless resurfaced, had a high spot around the 8th fret and was getting a lot of buzzing no matter how I adjusted the neck or bridge. It is awesome now, and I will only have flats on it from now on. Old owner used rounds, I think that was how the FB got in the condition it was in. Actually have flats on all my babies at this point!

I was a round wound player on fretless exclusively until I bought a Sterling with flats recently and now my fretless SR4 also has flats and i am just loving how they sound and feel.

I started off loving rounds on my fretless for the mwahhh, but eventually discovered EBMM group 3 flatwounds - they have as much mwahhh as I need and my bass purrs with pleasure at not having its fretboard abraded to anywhere near the extent it had been - anyone remember the cover of that F Zappa and the Mothers album Weasels Ripped My Flesh?? - figuratively speaking, rounds were having that effect on my fretboard
