Help! Frets on the JP

Hi,

I was wondering what is the material for the frets on the JP models: stainless steel, nickel?
and what brand : Dunlop? ...other?

after only 3 months owning my JP , I 've noticed yesterday that the frets are becoming blunt , under G, B, E strings, on those areas where I bent most - for ex frets 3-5-7, 12-14.

I was surprised to see those frets changing after only 3 months of playing and I can't stop thinking what will happen after 1-2 years.

Anyone else noticed that, or have encountered this?

Of course, I wrote an e-mail to CS, but since is not a problem yet I do not find it inappropriate to post this questions here.
I am only surprised ...on 3000 Euros (Europe price) guitar to see small flakes from tremolo chrome plated surface near those 2 studs, frets becoming a little blunt - this only after 3 months... just my opinion...

I think you should call Customer service for your area brother if you have concerns.......I have an AL that is 9 years old and the chrome is as shiny today as it was when i bought it new ....and my frets are just dandy..

Fret wear is normal ... the only way to escape it is to stop playing your guitar ...
It's the same with the tremolo : the friction of your hand and the corrosive action of sweat will wear the metal. My Morse is 8 years old and has a lot of fret wear (and I have other guitars, so other guitars share the friction) and the saddle of the low E string is really worn (just look at the pictures in my signature).
It proves that you play your guitar and that's a good thing

Hey paul, febcir is right and keep in mind just because you have frett wear doesnt mean you have to replace your fretts you just have to get them dressed and i mean all of them not just the ones that are worn....iam sure you know that thow... But you would be surprised at some of the thing i have seen people do to good guitars...get a certifed repairman...good luck and let us know how it turns out.

as I said I already wrote CS , the answer was somehow standard, general, not specific to what I was worried about... , but they answered quick
As stated in this post on the forum, I am a bit surprised to see this aspects happening so fast( and if most of EBMM players do not ask this here for ex they post on JP forum most of this little problems - it does not mean it does not exist ) , that is all ...and something like "it just happens..." surprised me also..

I understand that we live in a profit based economy and things are not manufactured to "live forever"

and I am also aware of normal guitar wear after playing it a while, what a good tech can or can't do , was just curious if this things are normal to appear so fast, and if the cause can be the materials used in tremolo , frets, etc.

I need you to understand that posting a cs issue while we are addressing a potential concern of yours is not likely to get you on the holiday card list. Also suggesting that I use inferior fret material in the name of profit is not a very nice thing to say on my public forum...especially when it is false damaging and innaccurate.

Nobody makes fret wire. Not one guitar company. WE use the finest material you can buy. There are some who prefer a harder fret material like stainless and we may offer that in some future model but realize that frets are metal against metal...Expect reduced string life with stainless.

Mr. Sterling,

no intention to discredit EB products from my side, sorry if was understood that way.
I love the JP model, I bought it having the reputation of the guitar and EBMM company , and as I stated at the beginning of the thread , for the moment there is no "issue" with my JP.
But as I saw those small "signs" I was talking about, I was curious about this aspects...thinking on long term.
I did not suggest that the material on this parts is inferior, I was just asking
(of course that is why I did not mention about stainless frets, although I had them in mind)
you are right it is your forum and I apologize if offence was taken
but if you say it's public, it may be considered that one could have the freedom of speech/opinion

If you consider the opposite you may close this thread.

Paul....I love the freedom of speech argument...I guess you didnt consider that I get to respond in the interest of freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is a good one....If this was a public owned forum there would still be rules....I respectfully ask that people refrain from posting cs issues. no biggie

stainless steel frets sound different due to being harder. brighter and maybe a little brittle.

No big mystery, really: frets wear, if you play them. However, don't play with your eyes, play with your fingers and ears. I always get my guitars refretted with stainless steel frets, when the time comes. In my case, I get my guitars refretted after about 5 years of solid use - not because they are really worn down, but rather because I enjoy huge frets and given enough recrowns, a jumbo fret isn't really jumbo anymore.

I prefer stainless steel for durability and smoother bends, but but it's never been vastly important to me (or I obviously wouldn't enjoy playing EBMM).
