Fretting question for you techs

Hi all,

I noticed on my Axis last night that on the underside of the fretboard two of the frets have small but definate gaps beneath where the fret ends (the tangs???) push into the wood. Neither frets show any sign that they are about to lift and I have no playing issues, it's just something I noticed. It looks like these particular fret slots may have been cut just a fraction too deep on this side of the board but that's just my theory.

I was wondering if this may cause me problems in the future in any way?

Anybody willing to comment?

Many thanks in advance

the frets have barbs to keep them in place......plus they are glued.......no worries......

In addition to what Tommy said, the fret slots should always be slightly deeper than the tang.

Tangs a lot for asking

oh.... {groan} What a punny guy....

Making the slots a little deeper than the tangs is a common practice among many more discerning guitar manufacturers - apparently, it helps keep the neck straight and the frets level somehow... usually you don't notice 'cause they fill the teeny tiny little spaces with wood filler or glue or something when finishing the frets...
