Candy Red Bongo 4H for sale or trade

A little over a week old; just not my tone.

More interested in trading for a Ray than selling, but I'll ship it to buyers in the lower 48 United States for $900. PayPal or USPS Money Orders.

I see you're more of a SR player too. I love my Bongo but there's something about my SR5. Good luck with the sale! :)

Thanks, Andrew! Yeah, there's just something about the Ray that absolutely does it for me all across the board, but in particular with my Ashdown, the tone.

I'd like to see it go to a fellow Forumite, as opposed to a stranger on CL...(though it is listed there), and Paul's twin should be a family member anyway. :D

The Bongo won't see eBay...almost can't stand doing business there anymore.

Ahhhh, wish I had cash... too bad you won't take a B5 in trade. Oh well, good luck in the process, it is a beauty!

Hold on a minute shamus......Dont give up so quick....start with the ashdown flat and the Bongo flat and then work from there...i have a feeling that you are starting the bongo with the amp eq you used with the stingray.....

BP, question for you... do you work the amp eq first or the bass eq??? I know everyone has theirown views on this but I would love to get your views on it (sorry not trying to jack the thread but had to be asked)

Initially, yeah. I did tweak the amp EQ for the gig, and got a great tone and presence...but there's something about the Ray tone that nails it for me dead-on.

But, as long as I've still got it here, I'll keep tweaking around with the Bongo and amp settings, and maybe try a heavier guage string set.

Just set Kermit up with Power Slinky's 2 weeks ago. I LOVED the Hybrid's but being tuned down 1/2 step necessitated a change... Power Slinks are awesome!!!!

I have a feeling you're going to go back to the SR.

I did that with the Bongo and thought I was going to be a Bongo player until I picked my SR5 back up. Game over.

If GC doesn't have them in stock, I'll hit Dude up for a set by next payday.

And really, I can't argue that this bass doesn't already sound great or that it can't cut through the live mix better than most basses...just got to find that right tone out of it.

Don't listen to him:p , I went Bongo and haven't looked back (in fact I keep looking for more Bongos).

Seriously, try the strings. You can always bail on it then. The 4H's are just great instruments and I hate to see you give up on it (but I understand that they are not for everyone - the nice thing about it is that you know the sound you want AND you at least know how/where you can get it from... not all players are that lucky).

Know what you mean about the tone. I have been fighting to keep my 4H locked away (so all I play is the HH), but I stumbled across "THE TONE" and it keeps coming back out. I gave up and the H is all I have played out for the last month.

So someone tell me about these Power Slinkys.

BTW, keep that Bongo, Shamus, you'll find what you need bro. My single H has become the "go to" bass.
