So... why aren't their more rosewood basses in production? Too heavy? Wood availability? Wood too soft? Undesirable sound? No one wants one?

I think that rosewood bass looks beautiful.

I will go out on a limb and say that the reason there are not more full rosewood body basses out there is because rosewood is expensive as hell.

question:

is the body wood exactly the same as the neck?
is it pao ferro or the same rosewood used for the fingerboards?

These basses are driving me crazy too. The koa-topped 5 is the most beautiful bass I'VE seen. That combo of wood grain and subtle sunburst is IT.
