Sorry for the second post but I think I'd rather keep the first open for people who want to comment on Michael personally and not ball it up with other details.

I think his family will be comforted to see the comments from everyone who was touched by Michael. I have been asked by many who live in and around the area if I would post funeral arrangements when I knew something. I received this email from his sister this morning.

"Thanks Fred. The postings on the forum are really touching. The pictures are great too. I will pass this link along to my sister in law Anne. I know she will appreciate them as well.

There will be 3 viewings at Michael Higgins funeral home in New City, NY Tuesday 7-9pm, Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:15am at St. Frances Church in West Nyack, NY. I will send a link for the obituary once it is posted.

I will go, probably tomorrow afternoon. I'll tell his wife and family how much Michael meant to us and how much he will be missed.

Man oh Man - it's a sad day indeed.
It's good to know that Mike's family took solace from the postings here on the forum.

Thanks again Fred for keeping us posted. I'll be thinking of him on Thursday.
RIP

Maybe if it's not disrespectful, someone could place an EB pick in the casket as a token from all of us here on the forum thinking about him.

...obviously GREEN would be a good color choice.

i don't think it would be disrespectful at all... Michael was a great guy and i'm sure he and his family would be honored to know that he had such a giant impact here and that would be a true sign of respect from us knucks!!!

i only had a few interactions with Michael and i can feel the loss of such a great guy.

I wish I could make it, however, between work and family it's not possible. Pete and Ernie please pass along my regrets.

I drove up to New York to attend the viewing for Michael and caught up with Pete and Ernie. It was clear to me that Michael's family is very touched by the outpouring of condolences from the forum. I think they were surprised that a few of the knuckleheads showed up at the viewing.

I talked to Michael's wife and I think that she has something that she'll want to share with the forum once everything settles down. Pete and Ernie know about it too but I won't give away any details.

I got another email from Michael's sister this morning. It has a link to his obituary.

We have enjoyed reading the posts on the forum. Here is the obituary.

I must admit, I'm more of a lurker here than a poster, but anytime I read that someone is fighting cancer or has lost their battle it has a deep affect on me. I lost my mom and aunt to cancer and I have a cousin that is battling it right now. I wish my deepest condolences for Michael's family as I definitely understand what they are going through -- and it truly sucks. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
