He's gonna give it such a thorough lickin', the neck will be warped due to all the moisture. :p

Yeah...the neck will be finished by the time Steve gets through with it!

im hoping he doesnt lick mine too much

Non-licking is a 45 dollar upcharge. You can Paypal me.

Original question: the Marcus Miller bass has the ugliest pickguard known to man, and they do tend to weight about a hunnert pounds.

Stingray is the obvious answer, given the name of this forum....but it's also a very GOOD answer.

So the licking is free? Now that's service.

Colin

Jack charged me $50 for a licking. And that was a straight deposit into his paypal account as well. Something seems a little fishy.

At this point, Colin and I have, in the comedy lingo, set up for the straight man. Somebody should feel very obliged to finish this out. :D

Fender = Poor Quality Control
Stingray = Excellent Quality... Especially for the Funk

Get a Stingray 4 Natural with two or three-band EQ, like my man Louis Johnson (see my avatar).;)

+2. I wouldnt mind owning a MIJ fender.

Also, for whatever reason, i find that the quality of MIA fender guitars seems to be more consistant than the basses. Maybe because basses are bigger and there is more margain for error? Im not sure but i have seen way more good MIA guitars than good MIA basses.

To the Group -

As you know, I have my HH/P Bongo fiver and I'm loving it! I am now on the hunt for something else.

I need a 4-string, gospel/funk/R&B slap machine -- I want it to be active.

I am this close to buying a F**nder Marcus Miller ..........
Initial reaction is "How ya gonna keep em down on the [Fender] farm after they've seen Nirvana [BongoLand]?" Your [almost] intentions truly puzzle me.

Don't have a purchase recomendatioon, but your 5HHP is a great funk and gospel setup if you'll just let yourself believe it. One of my buds does both nasty club funk and sunday-gone-to-meeting with a 35" Fodera, which is a rather narrow-spaced 5 with PUs fairly close near neck. He's a serious snapper popper. Invited himself backstage to swap licks with Wooten and both of them had a great time.

".... like my man Louis Johnson". Now there's a very solid argument. Really.

But it ignores the more basic fact:

Everyfreakinbody playing bass is supposed to have an SR4 natural, no matter what else they may have. It's basic issue. Get in line. Mine is very abnormal, FL with all replacement electronix, but it's still an SR4 natural and I wouldn't call myself a basser without it.

Yeah,

I missed that train. I guess I'm working around in a circle, because I am eventually going to get a Natural two-band EQ SR4 just to have. Or use them like basketball players and their jerseys, use the natural for "away" gigs and the white for "home" gigs.:D
