What fuzz pedal(s) are you using with your Silo? What's the tone you're trying to get and does the pedal work well with SC and Humbucker?

Colin,

I guess actual fuzz sound ala Hendrix, SRV or even Page. Just curious what fuzz pedals seem to work best the Silo. Also, if any pedal works equal well with the single coil and humbucker pickups.

Try a RAT or a Diamond J-Drive - they should give you plenty of fuzz and grit:D

HomeBrew UFO Fuzz Octave pedal. It's fairly new to me, but I'm pretty impressed. It's got modern & vintage voice settings & you can use the octave or not. It does Jimi to Pumpkins. Good luck.

The Fuzz Factory is an excellent pedal, but very much a tweaker box. It takes awhile to find the sound you want, but it is there, just don't lose it. I think that the Red Witch Fuzz God is much more user friendly. I was searching for one of those (Fuzz Factory or Fuzz God) before I stumbled upon the HBE UFO. I still might pick one up if the price is right. Although a ZVEX Ringtone would supercede either fuzz pedal. Also, check Harmony Central for pedal reviews. Sometimes they are helpful, sometimes not. Cheers.

Anything by AMT. Made in Siberia from bits of the old space programme.....true.

Sound..........out of this world.

J
agreee! i have two drive pedal from amt..it's very nice.. very satisfied..
and it is very simple because you can do direct to the mixer/computer with amt..
but they are not true bypass pedal (maybe because they have amp simulator inside), so you better put the other drive pedal before amt..

Dereck builds some amazing stuff. The Abunai 2 is handsdown one of the best OD pedals ever made. He made me an Abunai/Fuzz Buzz double pedal with a bias control. It's siiiiiiiiick. Since I can od the fuzz or fuzz the od in addition to using them as independent effects...and i can swithc the order.

Email him and tell him Jon Z sent you. Good chance tho, that he'll advise non-direct sales now since he's really expanding his line.

I thought Fuzz Factory was bizarre when I tried it out. Sounded great on their demo clips. Just didn't like it when I tried it. Maybe, the planets weren't aligned properly. Or, as has been suggested, I wasn't able to tweak it properly to get a sound I liked. Still would love to try Box of Rock, though.

if you want fuzz, and I mean FUZZ not overdrive or distortion type boxes then there is only one brand..D*A*M (Differential Audio Manifestationz). They are gonna be expensive for you US guys but you won't get a better fuzz pedal.

For the application you have noted (SRV, PAGE, HENDRIX) I would say go for the Drag'N'Fly or MKII.

I have the Rams Head and it absolutely nails Gilmours solo tone from Comfortably Numb, and has great clarity and articulation with all pickups on both the Luke and Axis so the Silo should have pretty similar results. Think the website is www.stompboxes.co.uk but a quick google should turn them up.

Good luck
