G&L Comanche

Have any of you EB types played the G&L comanche.If so,what EBMM guitar is comparible to it.This is not meant to P/O Big Poppa.

Before finding Music Man, I was all set to buy a Comanche!
Great guitar. Built like a tank, but heavy as hell!!!!

I ended up with a Silo HSH is that means anything.

Because of the staggered pups on the Commanche, I don't know if tonally it qualifies as a SSS or HSH.

My 2 main guitars are a Comanche and an Axis SS. Ilove them both but they are night and day.

The Z-coils make the Comanche (and Z-3) unique. People love them or hate them. Nothing in the G&L line, let alone the line of another manufacturer, compare well.

If you want to ball park it, an SSS AL or Silo Spc would do it. 3 silent singles.

I like the Z3's in my ASAT semi-hollow a lot, fatter than single coils quieter than single coils, a little bit warmer,

The G&L's are quality guitars. The Z3 coils are really cool, beefy single coils, definitely an AL with MM90's would be the best match.

Rob's ears don't lie, if big crunchy single coil tones are where you're at then you need to audition the Comanche and the MM90 AL.
But the neck and ergonomic fit of the AL mean that for my money it trumps the admittedly fine G&L.

I couldn't get into the Z3 coils; sound cold and sterile to me. Also I can't get into the overbuilt G&L trem floating bridge, though the top loaded hard-tail Asat bridge on a lightweight Legacy is pretty cool, as well as hard to find.

Today I just bought an ASAT Classic.......it sounded great! Still love the AL's though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool guitars are cool guitars.

My friend's brother has a Comanche, which I've played many times. Great guitar, but I much prefer the tone and feel of my JP. But then again, the JP is more of a metal/shred guitar, they are completely different. I would say the closest would be a Silhouette Special.

The MM90's in the AL really sound kick ass, superior to the Z3's in every way.

I have to admit,my favourite sounding axe is the axis sport mm90...so.......who needs that extra pickup anyway!
