Hi all!!
I just receive my new SR5!! Looks great!! sounds great!!

Just have a question:
I notice the G string closer to the edge of the fingerboard. I see at the nut, and the separation between D string and G string are different form the others .

Is this normal?

Is anybody encounter the same problem before?

thanks for your help

Skydive,
This seem's to be a thing that's part of owning a Sr5. Because of the narrow spacing, we get this with some of these basses. It was something I rastled with, and I was worried i had a defected neck. But no, I just worked on my technique with this, and it's all good now!
Gracias Mi Hermano in Puerto Rico!,

Maybe you could post a pic of the string so we can all get a better idea?

Oh wow. That's really bad. Hm... You're right - it does look like a problem at the nut. I'd just take it to a luthier, but I'm sure others will give more advice.

Hi..Because the nut slots are measured from the center of the one slot to the next it looks like the spacing is uneven because the strings are all different in width. It is normal and nothing to worry about.

Ok...I didn't look at the pic before I answered...That G string is way too close to the edge...A good tech can file the slot a bit inward without making the slot too wide....If the bass is under warranty talk to Beth, our international customer service rep.

My Guild B30E acoustic bass guitar had the G string pathetically close to the edge of the fretboard. Years after I bought the old girl I finally had it to the luthier to have some warp worked out of that thin, ladylike neck and he ended up renutting it for me, set the strings up *much better*, no more G diving off the neck like lemmings to a cliff. :D Reckon you might wanna get a new nut installed and recut. Warranty work!
