G string issues???

Hey fellas,
Just wondering if anyone else out there has had any issues with non-Slinky brand G's slipping on the G post??

I just went ot string the ol' Bonginator up with a set of Fat Beams and the G slipped and wouldn't stay anchored regardless... this also happened a few weeks back when I was trying out some Hartke strings (D'Addario) and the G in that set wouldn't stay put for the life of me.

I've done a few string changes in my time and quite successful ones at that, so, is this just simply due to me getting some bum G strings? p HAD to throw that in there)...ooops, I did it again...

seriously though, anyone else have any G issues?

The easiest thing is to make sure you get at least 2 full turns on the tuning peg,and inserting the end of the string in the center of the peg helps too.

I have in the past put a set of Rotosound Swing Bass 66s on my 'ray - never experienced a problem with slippage

I have had D'Addario Chromes slip on the G post before. Frustrating to tune to G, and have the string slip on down to E by itself.

I only have had this problem if there were not enough turns on the tuning peg. How many have you there?

Another trick could be to make a really sharp bend in the string where it comes out of the center hole.

This may sound crazy but it worked on one of my basses. Rotate the tuning key 180 and load the string from the other side.

Is it possible to do the string-lock-winding technique on a bass like we do on guitars? or are the strings too fat?

Why not just get a new Bass.

According to an advice I got from EBMM customer service two years ago, the turns should be done so that the last one should be on the bottom side of the peg (which means winding from top down to bottom).

Not sure this is _your_ issue, just know that worked perfectly for me.
