Help! G string tuning with DTuna

Hi All,

Installed a DTuna on a recently acquired Tribute, however, engaging the DTuna causes the G string to go out of tune dramatically. The nut is locked tight and so is the saddle. Any ideas?

Tightening the springs and prayer. Haha. Seriously though, try tightening the springs.

A dtuna can only be used on a non-floating tremelo system. But i guess you know that. Strange that its only the g string going out of tune....

Whoa...whoa...just noticed that you said this is a Tribute Axis. For some reason I thought it was just a regular Axis. I notice on the description that was released when the Tribute was announced it says it has an "Updated" Floyd Tremolo. I'm not exactly sure what the "updated" part is, but if it includes the option to raise and lower the pitch with the trem bar then your DTuna isn't going to work. Like sanderhermans said, the DTuna only works on a trem that lowers pitch only. Does your trem raise and lower pitch?

It only lowers pitch, not unlike the older tremolos on the regular Axis (and before the change in tremolo design). Axis' tremolos only went one way, down.

Okay, so like I thought it only lowers pitch. Tightening the springs should help with tuning stability when you use the DTuna. Help is the keyword though. The whole DTuna system is a wee nightmare.

I have found with 10's on an Axis AND with a dtuna.. that engaging and disengaging the dtuna has enough impact on string tension and neck relief that some of my other strings are thrown out of tune so very very slightly. I have heard that it works a little better with 9's, but your mileage may vary... In saying that, I can't say that it only happens on the g string.. Anyway, good look with the guitar.
