I'm counting down the days until I get to go to this show. I'm going to the April 11th show in NY city at Madison Square Garden. I will finally get to see Mr. Larue and his amazing bongosity live. I saw him on the G3 2001 tour when he played with Petrucci when he was playing his blue stingray 5, it sounded awesome. But this year he's pulling double duty again playing for JP and Satriani. That's 2 sets of bongo in 1 night, I don't know if I can handle it. I might need to where a drool guard or something *note to self*. Not to mention I also get to see 3 of my favorite guitarists, Satriani, Petrucci, and Paul Gilbert! Anybody else here checking out G3 this year?

I'll be at the MSG G3 show.

If you really want to see Dave at his best, you have to see the Dregs/SMB.

Word. Dave really shines when playing with the Dregs and Steve Morse Band. They should get Morse on the bill so Dave could play all three sets. :D

Speaking of G3 and Satch.... did anyone notice him in the movie For Your Consideration that came out last year? Small cameo appearance but I was really surprised to see him. BTW, it's a great movie if you are a fan of Christopher Guest's satire.

I saw that! It's a good movie, although probably my least favorite Christopher Guest film.

and like any progressive rock/metal show, the crowd will be 90% musicians, 80% male, and of the 20% female, at least 17% will be wives or girlfriends brought along who only know that their male counterpart will be totally pre-occupied with the show and nothing else will matter...all holds true for the G3 performers and Queensryche, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Dragon Force, Cellador, Mastadon, even Alice Cooper and Winger now days, etc...

I love progressive music and cannot wait til G3

Mostly true. But for some reason, my 12 year old daughter LOVES Dream Theater. Of all the music I listen to and play quite regularly, I don't exactly know why she picked them to be her favorite.

I got my tickets for the show in Denver today. This will be the first time I get to see Petrucci live. I can't wait.

she may be telling you she needs a guitar

She has been playing piano for a few years. She has a pretty decent Yamaha keyboard I bought her a few yeas ago.

Last year, I bought her a "starter" acoustic guitar... I think her fingers are still a little too small to really play it effectively. She hasn't shown much interest in the guitar, but still sticks with the piano.

I wish I had piano lessons as a kid... I'd probably be a better guitar player today.
