How about they just do a G8 for $30 with Satch, Vai, Petrucci, Morse, Vinne Moore, Eric Johnson, Steve Lukather, and Tony Macalpine (since he plays with Vai anyway. Plus I like his solo stuff.) It could be a 3 disc DVD with like 5-6 songs per each player, and than have like a 20minute ALL IMPROVISED MUMBO JUMBO PIECE for the HECK of it. Than they could beat each other with their guitars to see which one is more durable and who is a better warrior!!! MUAHAHAAHAHA

I was thinking audio for some odd reason.

Ah well. Anyway, anything short of complete sets is a ripoff in my book. I could care less about the jams, it's just a bunch of noise.

I'd rather see complete sets and more behind the scenes/interview type stuff.

Maybe WE should do the production of the DVD on the next one. What do you think? I would freakin video tape the guys goin to the bathroom. NOT REALLY!!! Wait, that was already done on Petrucci's Rock Discipline back stage thingie. They were taping him while he was in the shower  LOL.

My guess is that Sony allows for a "small" budget on these projects. G3 CDs/DVDs probably don't sell that well overall. Its on Satriani's label, so licensing & things have to be factored into the equation with the other artists. I really like the individual sets on this one, and the jams are better too.

I bought the DVD yesterday, since I came across it and it was cheap.
Of course JP's 2 songs are awesome!
He blows the other 2 away IMHO!
Satch's tone is really good. Vai is good technically, but I cannot stand to listen to him for more than a few minutes (both his music and his voice).
I wouldn't say the DVD was worth the money, but I know I will watch JPs 2 songs many more times.
It really blows that JPs sound wasn't mixed right in the jam session.

I'm with you foggy....Vai is an outstanding player, but I can only take so much. The way he and his band walk out on stage, their mannerisms, behavior, etc. was also pretty comical....it was sooo 80's.

I got mine for $9.95 on Amazon

After watching it, I ordered Suspended Animation. I like the two songs he played.

You know when Vai does it right, he is really good.

Passion and Warfare is incredible, I bought his CD with all of his soundtrack music just to hear his Jack Butler stuff. On the G3 Live -Malmsteen version, I skip by almost everything to hear Get The Hell Out of Here.

On the other hand you need to listen to a lot of really inaccessible music to get to the gems.
