Have any of you guys used this? I dont have a band, but I got some songs, can I use this to record my guitar playing and then add other instruments to make music? Can I also record a guitar lick, then use it as a sample to play over like, say, a techno beat? And finally, can I take any mp3 and take an instrument or part of the song and use that as a sample? Please shed some light on this Garage Band program...or are there any other programs that will let me do this such as pro tools? I jsut want to record and be able to sample things to make my own music. I also already have a nice keyboard along with my axis :)

i used Garage Band. Its simple and easy and its liek $50. You can record live instruments and save them as loops to reuse. You can also use any of their software instruments and compose stuff with those ...

its pretty sweet. i havent used anything else but it works for me.

i dunno if you can import and sample an mp3 ...

check out these clips ... both were recorded with GarageBand:

GB is awesome - you can import an MP3, Midi file, AIFF - pretty much whatever. Really simple interface, plug-ins and loops up the wazoo...
