Hi guys,

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Bongo 5H. It's a great bass but not really suited to what I do.

I've made some enquiries at my local EBMM dealer and they will part-ex it. Nothing finalised, but I am thinking SR5 Black cherry burst, matching headstock and maple board. What do you all think?

I have been thinking of a single H SR5 for a long time. Tried one out a few years ago and really loved it, but the twin pickup bug had bitten so I didn't see it for the great bass it is.

I really dig the black cherry burst... and I am a fan of the H setup... You definitely can't go wrong with the bass you are thinking about!! :)

What style are you playing these days?

Normally, I'm not a fan of maple fretboards with MHS, but Thornton's looks really nice with the White Pearl PG...

It's for sale, BTW.

...and what is "part-ex"?

I don't care for maple boards and I don't play 5'ers, but mynan's bass is one of the nicest looking basses I have ever seen. I love the white p/u and it just looks super classy! WOW!

It's not mine, it's Thornton's...and it's on the "for sale" thread. Someone should buy it...great-looking bass.

You can't go wrong with a SR5 in any configuration. I'm personally waiting to come across a SR5 in Candy red, with rosewood, white pickup, and white pickguard. Maybe have to break down and custom order it one day. Still, I myself am not a fan of the maple fretboard, but that's because I hate when they get discolored. The maple is classy looking for sure. I don't care too much for the HH config, or the HS in the Stingray. So I went with the SR5 Single w/Piezo..... I know the black on black with matching headstock is a little boring, but it's an amazing sounding bass. My wife actually got it for me last month for my birthday. She took me to GC and basically told me to pick out whichever bass I wanted. After playing almost every MUSICMAN in the store, and a couple others. It came down to this one, and a Modulus Quilted Jazz 4..... In the end I chose the Stingray..... No regrets at all.
