Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with the (not sure what year) Guitar Center AL MM90 with Rosewood Neck/ash body? I have one on order (probably should have asked this before I ordered) and would appreciate some feedback from users.

Thanks!

Oh boy assMan, you just bought yourself a oneway ticket to paradise. The Albert Lee is such a killer guitar! The MM90's sound incredible on it. Tone of these MM90's is very versatile, nice bite to them, yet can be somewhat chimey as well. The neck, you will die for. Beautiful, feels silky smooth. You will really enjoy this guitar.

What color and when does it arrive? Congrats on a lovely score!

I've got the HH Al and the MM90 Al both all rosewood neck. I call them the twins and they're the best two guitars I own. The MM90 is a strat killer which is great because I hate strats but love the single coil tones. Congrats and post pictures!

I love my AL MM90's, super guitar and just the balls.

What's the deal with the GC AL you have on deposit, is it in of the limited color runs? Like the Turquouse Blue?

Hoo boy.. before these posts I was waiting patiently (you know, only checking the UPS tracker 40x per day) for the delivery guy. Now I'm getting antsy to get this thing in my hands! The only colors I could find for the MM90/ash/r'wd config were in gold and black. These are trem only. I also don't know the production year and couldn't get a serial# from GC. Not aware of any other colors, but then again I can only go by what GC has told me. Mine is in black and, if I can believe the good folks at GC, the last one in either color left in their inventory nationwide (until the next order, that is).

I'd be interested to know if they do come in other colors, as I think that r'wd neck contrasted with the lighter, more vintage-y colors is just the bees knees... will post some pics when the train reaches the station.

In the meantime, anyone else out there playing these things?

Best,
assMan

I scored my it had been hanging around GC for 3 years, started out in Hollywood, ended up in Phoenix and I had it shipped to Natick Mass. It's a 2001, White Sparkle, but it's a maple neck, not a rosewood neck. Again, one of my favorites.

Congrats, lets see it when you get it.

If I remember correctly the GC exclusive AL MM90 with rosewood neck is available in black and gold (can't remember the specific color's name), I recall having seen a few white ones too but could be wrong...I happen to have one that was made during the BFR Rosewood neck run, it's my favourite guitar. You're in for a lot of fun! :)

Hey Assman here is a link to FAQ page regarding posting pictures

Reading and Posting Messages

Basically you can host them on a site like Photobucket and when they are uploaded there you copy the link by hovering over the photo in your gallery and clicking on direct image link when the little window appears, then you just paste it into your thread reply
so it would look like this example:

and your picture will appear when you use the actual link . Hope that helps

On the GC MM90 with full rosewood neck, the body is actually mahogany. The combo of the rosewood and mahogany with the MM90 pickups produces sweet tone for days. The guitars have been ordered by GC in Black, White and Gold as stated in this thread. However, they have had the most success with the black so they have reordered it in small runs several times...
Very cool guitar!

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay of this post.. here's the update..

The guitar showed up last Wednesday and boy is it something else. Being the first guitar I've bought sight unseen, opening the box was a little like Sir Lord Whats-His-Name opening the mummy's tomb. What a beautiful instrument. The neck was a little dry, but one of the included wonder wipes had it looking mean in no time. Playability is just fantastic. My Boogie DC-5 has never sounded so good. Those MM90's really snap and pop.. just a very, very nice tone.

It turns out that the body is not ash, as GC had informed me, but mahogany. At this point there is absolutely no way I'm giving this rig back, but I'm still curious to hear the difference between the two body woods. May have to answer that question when I have another GAS attack. But in the meantime I'm happier than a pig in a puddle and probably will be for quite some time to come. Just waiting for the abalone PG from MM and I'm good to go.

Here's some pix (sorry for the poor res):
