Been one of those weeks. Normally GC has done pretty well for me until this. Was checking over the used inventory and found something I liked (EBMM related - some say it looks like a toilet seat). I send an info request in... 5 days later still no response. Few days I call the store - their "bass guy" isn't in so I leave a msg... 3 days go by... nada... Call ask for the manager - not in, msg, nothing. Take one last shot send another info request in and I get a call an hour later (I am in total shock). I ask my questions get decent answers and I ask for a picture (either to be posted to the site or emailed to me)... I am promised one within an hour. 24 hours later still nothing. I am ready to buy a bass. I want to buy a bass (much to my wife's displeasure)... all I need is a shot of it and still nothing.

This is frustration to the 10th degree. Don't know what to say at this point other than no Bongos for me  grrrr.

While i am thinking about it - this isn't a slam on Guitar Center as a whole... as I said, they normally get it right for me. Just had to vent a ton of frustration.

Wow... I had an experience completely the opposite of yours a few weeks back. I called 2 separate GC's, both at different ends of the country. The first guy I talked to was extremely cool about the whole deal, andwered all my questions, and even texted me pics within the hour that I called. He would have got my sale, except I decided on another Bongo.

The other GC sent me an email on 2 seperate Bongos they had in stock (one of which I bought), from a simple email request. When i called, they took care of me right away and had the bass shipped after the weekend. The sales guy called me a couple times to make sure everything was cool and to make sure I had my tracking number.

Both places really impressed me. Sorry your experience was so lame man!

Sometimes their good, sometimes their not... I have a question though, I was in the local GC on Thursday and some buddies of mine who work there showed me a stingray that had just been sold. It was a BFR Stingray 5, Gold body, with a rosewood neck. It was gorgeous, had all the paperwork to it, but the case was a standard musicman case, and pretty scuffed up. Do the BFR basses come with the standard case or are they supposed to have the nicer cases like the guitars do? Either way it doesn't bother me because I'm not the guy who bought it lol, but I am very curious about that....

if it was scuffed it was not the one that came with it

I had a GC experience...Back around Thanksgiving I went to the San Marcos store in Southern California and obught a bunch of stuff to set up a little garage band studio...I finally am setting it up on Weds night and the cables for the powered monitors were all wrong....I was bummed as the store is about 45 minute drive from where I was setting the stuff up.

I went in and they said fine we will exchange them.....the guy was helpful and tried and said the problem is that they no longer had the same length in stock...I would have to either settle for 3 footers or 20 footers...I asked him to check his computer to make sure that he was in fact out of stock and it said they had 8 of the right ones. He spent 20 minutes and finally found them and then I was passed the 30 day exchange and he had to get a manager that ok'd it. He ddn't know who I was and really worked hard to make the screw up right

In this day and age businesses must realize how important customer service is. No matter how much money you spend at a store, online or over the phone, repete customers will keep coming back just for the great service they receive.

GC in Charleston USED to be really bad, but lately it seems they have turned it around quite a bit. Our drummer had a "bad experience"" last week, but I blame him lol. He bought some new drum heads and thought they were all clear, the drum rep said they were clear, but he didn't double heck the packages and ended up with 4 coated and 1 clear head. He didn't bother taking them back due to time restraints, and ended up using them. Simple mistake on both parties. I have found though, that if a sales person does not know the answer to a question, and there is someone in the store (that doesn't work there) they'll ask them. For example, 2 weeks ago I was in GC getting strings, picks, and other things I need for some upcoming shows. A guy at the counter was looking for bass strings that have a red thread on the ends of them so that would look good on his black bass. The counter guy had no idea what he was talking about so he come and got me. I talked to the guy for a little bit to see what kind of tone he was looking for out of his strings, and recommended trying the EB hybrids, but he was just concerned with looks. I told him he was looking for the GHS boomers, the sales guy opened the pack and was shocked to see the ends were red lol. They offered me a job on the spot, but I declined. I was just impressed that they took the extra effort to find what he was looking for by asking me rather than selling him any other type of string.
As far as that case goes, it looked like it had been used several times, but the bass inside was perfect. It was my first time seeing the rosewood neck, and all I can say is wow!!! I'm not a big fan of the gold color, but after seeing it in person, it was truly a work of art!!!

That's great. It is the service I am used to getting... that is why this is so frustrating. I have never tried so hard to spend money and the store not want it (my wife loves it though).

Check the Florence, KY store, you know John, right?

I probably do (it is escaping me for the moment - truly been the week from hell) - don't get down to the Florence "Y'all" store too much since the Cincy and Dayton stores are closer.

Where did they move the Cincy Mills store too? I was there in September right before the move. Woulda walked out with a MB F1 if not for the store closing. No trades at the time and they wouldn't budge on the price.
