I used to hit one of the four Dallas area GCs about 2-3 times per week. I would usually see something new. I like to find the basses before the wrecking crews get a hold of them. I'm now down to about 1 visit every 3-4 weeks, and yet the stock never seems to change. It just gets dustier. I'll be glad when the economy picks up and GC starts to move some of their higher-end inventory. I'm sure it's not real thrilling for them either.

I'd like to help them out, by taking one off of their hands, but I'm a little tight myself at the present.

let me guess.. the one on 635? I don't get to GC but every 4-5 months (I live 2 hours away), but that one and the one in arlington seems to always have the same basses hanging around. It really is sad.

Yeah, GC would be the first to enjoy a little spring cleaning!

Come on everyone, buy a EBMM guitar - if not, how about a "box" of strings!:)

Selection is stale at my guitar center too, but they have more music mans right now than they have ever carried in the past. About 11 right now, I would say. This time last year they only had 4. And when they sell one, they've been putting a new one on the floor.

If I had the money right now, I'd help them take one of those Classic Stingray 5s off their wall.

As a former GC employee, I would definitely agree with you on this. Mind you, I worked in a smaller store, but the only high quality basses we had besides Music Man were the american fenders, and for a while we had Warwicks. And until the classic line came out, it was pretty much the same MM basses over and over. The standard Black body/Black PG Stingray, the same honeyburst (?) SR5, the occasional natural Stingray or Sterling. As a bass player, it was a major disappointment never seeing anything new or interesting in the bass room.

That one, Lewisville, Plano and Central too. Great guys and gals there, but their stock is not changing. I can't blame them, though. It's the economy.

I'm planning to nuke the Commonwealth of Virginia since GC sees fit to make sure all the stores there have EBMMs while the 3 locations in Maryland hardly have jack unless they buy it used. Last time I saw a Sterling at my local store was a natural HS over 2 years ago and it was beat to hell by the slap happy idiots who have no money in there.
