hi guys, any of you guys know a little technical stuff about amps? i just bought the new Randall vmax head (dual preamp) one tube one solid state and a 300 watt solid state power amp. sometimes i get a weird "electrical storm" kinda effect in my backround hiss that occelates in pitch. also when i change channels sometime i get a little "pop" and will i turn off the amp i get a "crack" out of the speakers. anyone have any ideas? anyone's amp on here do that? its less than a day old and i'm just trying to gather info before returning it. thanks

the first thing ya wanna do is replace the tube....it's easy to do.....and the storm noise can sometimes be a tube. hopefully it's not a cap.
also..i don't imagine the amp should pop when you shut it off. hopefully...replaceing the tube wil cure both problems. if not ......talk to the manufacturer & ask if it is normal for the amp to pop when shut off. some solid state amps will normally do that......although a loud pop would not be normal .

thanks for the info, i contacted the company and they sent fed-ex to pick it up today. their gonna look it over and fix whatever issues it has. so far nice help. especially since i don't have cover shipping on it. i have heard of some solid state amps emiting a pop when powerd off, but usually the pop sound doesn't change in volume from use to use. we'll see what happens.

i got the amp head back today (fast work) and it seems to be a little better. also apparently it was one of the earlier heads shipped and they since made some changes to the newer models so they completly updated the amp and the tone is a bit sweeter. repairs and mods were done by *tada* Bruce Egnator! i got a letter from him himself. it still pops when you turn it off sometimes but i guess thats just what some solid state amps are prone too.
