I think majority of Morse fans should know that the title is of one of his amazing tunes from "Split Decision". I think this perfectly describes this absolutely wonderful brilliant guitar! I fell in love with the Y2D since it was introduced to us here by BP, some years ago already. I dont really have to go into the details since a lot of you know that this is a brilliant guitar in every way. I love every single thing about it...the 5 way switch and the pickup combination's are so versatile and the volume and tone knobs are so damn responsive.

Believe it or not, this is my FIRST hardtail guitar I've ever owned...and I'm loving it. The only thing I have to really get used to is the non-contoured body. I'm used to the Silo Special and 20th Silo contours, but the Y2D is still insanely comfortable. I think it just became my favorite EBMM as a matter of fact. The neck is perfect for my hands and it's so nicely figured and dark, almost like a semi-toasted neck hehehe.

Now I had to let go of the LUKE to get this one, but I do not regret it one bit. The Y2D is just more my style since I am more of a humbucker guy, and I actually prefer the bigger body. Dont get me wrong, the LUKE is a briliant guitar as well, but I dont have space for 4 at the moment. I also want to thank the MAN Pete D. of course for working with me on this one. He has the LUKE for sale at his store, so whoever wants a beautiful LUKE in pristine condition, give him a shout. Here is a link as a plug :D USED - Luke Sapphire Black

I'll stop ranting and present you with pics, and I am off to play this beauty for the rest of the night!

ONe of the great and undiscovered morse songs ever. I remember getting the cd when it came out and that song stood out. Listened to it 5-6 times in a row i was so taken by it.

Be great if they played it live. Cant recall if they pulled that out on their mini tours or not but i dont think so.

Enjoy the new guitar...

Colin, I will take some indoor shots later today or during the weekend. Here is a link from Pete's sold items, and this is the one that happens to be mine :D. The top and the neck really caught my eye and it took me a second to fall in love with it.
Steve Morse y2d

Now that I played the heck out of the guitar last night, I really really love the tones it produces. The bridge pup is so articulate, clear, fat and crunchy. The neck pup is nice and round, and of course perfect for that singing tone. I dont find it muddy at ALL. The single coil I think is awesome, and definitely adds so much versatility to the 5 pup selections. Every single position is very usable, and instead of my usual switching on the other guitars from bridge to neck, I was using ALL of them. This makes me very happy :D.

Now a question about the strings! It comes with Steve's custom Slinkys where the low E is 42 and the G is 16...do you guys just use regular Slinkys? I really like this set, but I guess I would have to buy 9s and 10s and combine them?

It really is one of the most beautiful guitars indeed. I actually dont find it to be extravagant or flashy with this finish...it is rather subtle but has a lot of character and presence. And again, like my original title says, this thing can go from beautiful clean to some insane heavy stuff.
