I'm considering getting a gig bag for my Bongo 4. Anyone have any suggestions? Mostly for transporting the bass from home to practice/gigs and back, so doesn't have to be super rugged/protective, however I'd like pretty good quality.

Thanks!

(tried searching for bongo gig bag, however both gig and bag are too short to be included in a search, so I got 20 pages of "bongo" results)

Body Glove Hybrid Bass Guitar Bag

They don't make them anymore, but they're are some still out there.

THEY ARE LONGER than the Standard Bag, which with the Headstock...you will want.

Mine is perfect

My bongo 5 fits in a Guitar Research gig bag. Padded very well and made it on a plane.

I have found only 3 bags in my lifetime that seem good enough to haul around my balls. Undercover cases gigbags available from Beaver at Basscentral, is the best all around double bag, super padded and not too bulky, should be long enough for the bongo.

Reunion blues has a newer bad called the continental, its not as expensive as their leather bags, but it is still a great semi-rigid bag, I would check this one on an airplane..its that good.

The Low End used to sell a leather bag that was super. Its also huge and heavy, but a great bag. I think you can still order them under the brandname procase or probag.

Hope that helped.

INCASE charges handling fees.

Look elsewhere and you can find it for a bit less. See if TPB or Dubaldo Music can order it also.

I too have several Under Cover bags, but it is my understanding they are no longer making gig bags. They may have gone out of business all together. Where I used to purchase them in Nashville told me they could not get any more and that they were just selling existing inventory. I then bought one of the Reunion Blues Continental bags. This has become my new favorite bag. The protection is great and there are so many little details that make it seem like they listened to every complaint I ever had about bags and fixed them with this one. I would recommend checking one of them out.

This is a timely thread for me, as I've just started looking to pick up a quality gig bag. The Mono and Incase bags both look very good to me, well-reviewed and similarly priced. Anybody tried both and have a preference?

I have both the Mono and Incase. Both are very well constructed and will protect the bass from all daily knocks and rough handling in something like a touring van. The Mono wins style points with the two tone look and in handling with its slimmer profile and lighter weight. The Incase wins in function. It has more room for accessories and is more rigid (but much heavier). It is actually a low profile, soft sided case.

As for function: There were times during rough seas that my basses, in their Incase gig bags, were tossed around violently in my sea going office. Sometimes they even fall face down on the steel deck. The gig bags delivered as advertised and protected my babies from damage. I think that says something about Incase's products.

My main gig bag is an iGig.

It's very protective, can carry TONS of stuff and (here's the biggie) sits low enough on my shoulders so I don't hit the tops of doorways when I walk thru. I got mine from The Low End.

The only downside to the iGig that I can find is that it's kind of heavy.

I've also owned an Incase bag (it was their double bass bag). It's also a very nice bag that I'd recommend. I don't think it had as much storage as the iGig and it sat higher on my shoulders. But, it was also a very good bad.

If you want a really nice one Reunion Blues makes a great bag. Great handle and very protective. A little pricey though.

Thanks! That's exactly the sort of comparison I was looking for. I think I'll probably go with the Incase. Not that I anticipate needing that sort of protection, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I will be flying with a bass in a few months, but I won't need it before then.

What are the thoughts around the Warwick Rockbag Deluxe? Can be had for $50. I used to have one -- my only experience with a gigbag -- and it seemed quite sturdy.

I've also had good experience with the Levy's gig bag, albeit an older model. Now my main gig bag is specifically made for Club Bass in Toronto. I am not sure on the length - I haven't tried the Bongo in it, but my Stingray 5 fits very nicely.

I've been eyeing the Levy's CPS8 as well. Anyone used one of these?

CPS8 - Levy's Leather

Price on that page is quite a bit higher than I've seen on other sites, but doesn't look like MF or GC carry that one on their site(s).

Wow, you're not kidding. I just checked their website, and they charge a handling fee of $22.50 in addition to the shipping charge. That's insane! Problem is, I only found one other online retailer that even carries the Slim case. List price plus shipping looks like a bargain next to the INCASE web store.
