Yep, I've got myself a gig in New York City! I'll be playing some gigs around New York & Connecticut at the end of this month. One of them is a public dance, and it will be at Connelly's Pub in NYC on Saturday, April 1. I don't know the time yet, but if anybody in the area is interested in going, I'll find out for ya.

I'll be playing bass with a genuine Cajun band from New Orleans. If you've never heard this type of music before, you should give it a whirl! :D

Congrat's on the gig, Bill!

I'd love to get paid to go to NYC and gig...hell, I'd do it as long as the airfare and a hotel near Times Square were covered!

Outdoor gig at Bryant Park in the summer...mmm!

Thanks, y'all! Yeah, Larry, this particular band I'm playing with does a lot of zydeco-influenced songs. It's definitely not a die-hard traditional Cajun band!

Will do, Larry!

Chuck, yep, it's me who plays the squeezebox. Or, as some folks call it, the Cajun air compressor. :D

A hotel near Times Square could cost as much as the airfare.

Yeah, I stayed at the Hilton Millennium TS back in November (on the company dime), and they paid a mint for my 5 night stay!

That's why I'd do the gig for no pay...;)

Any of the Connecticut gigs public?

Going to NYC is needlessly expensive, even though I only live 60-odd miles outside of town. By the time I finish paying for train/subway fare or gas/parking plus the evening out, it always winds up being over $100.

I know the feeling! Unfortunately, the gigs in Connecticut are all at schools, of all places. I don't know which schools, and I'm not even sure what these gigs are for...probably some type of educational program to allow kiddos to learn about music & culture in south Louisiana or something like that. As far as I know, the only public thing will be the gig at Connolly's on Saturday night. :(
