GK Cabs

What can anyone tell me about the tone of GK cabs vs say SWR and Ampeg? I live in Chicago but the closest place to me that has any GK cabs in stock is Milwaukee. I don't want to make the drive unless there is a good possibility that they might fit.

Tone is a truly subjective thing.

I'd say that GK has a very agressive tone. Meaning, they tend to be very "rock-like", if that's a term... I had a GK cab for a while. It was a good quality cab. It was just a tad sterile for me. I would definately shop and compare before purchasing if you can.

I just picked up a Neo212 and am going to be doing my first gig with it this week-end, I'll try to let you know how it goes.THe main reason I got it,aside from a few friends raving, is because my main live gig is a Rock-ish band and I need some mids to cut through the Orange and Bassman onslaught but so far the cab seems great at lower levels and is nice and light.

The SBX cabs are good cabs. More affordable than the RBH cabs, and dont feature the ports.

The GK cabs, I have found to be very versatile. They excel at rock, and other music where cutting through is a must. They are pretty sterile sounding, which I like. If you play a GK head, you can also use the bi-amp feature. I like it because it gives you seperate control of the woofers and the horn.

Anyone with experience with the NEO cabs. Thinking of trying the 2x12 with my 1001.

ya, I'm gonna be trying out my Neo212 with an older GK 115 underneath and borrowing a friend's 800RB so I'll try to have some reports next week.
