i know that "i got to go and tries them both" but i cant. so i am asking to everyone who has them or tried them wich one is better.
at this moment i am running my ray 4 with a GK head 400 rbIII 150 watts 8 ohms through an ampeg cab 410 he.
i think tfirst the head is not giving me enough powwer so i am moving to a mayor sound. would be 700 rb II or ampeg b2re . GK is rated at 320 watts and ampeg at 250. has any one compared so i get an idea.
the 400 rb sounds good but i think is a little bit crispy for altough i like the sound.
maybe i need more power or even with more the "crispy" will still. i think there is a lack of warmth. any advice please

You won't notice a big difference between your old head and the new ones you are considering. Buy a higher powered model (and when you get to that price range, you're in used SVT territory too)

Your 8 ohm cab doesn't help matters either. Maybe you can add another 8 ohm cab to drop the load to 4.

No matter what. I think you need to be at 4 ohms to know what any amp or cab can do.

2 ohms gets louder.

Why not go with the GK 1001RB-II to have all that headroom? $600 shipped to your door on www.rmcaudio.com
+1 I have the 1001RB-II, and it's never let me down no matter how loud I need to play. And I'm only running it through an 8-ohm cabinet! I love that GK head.

i have a GK 1001rb that I play in my LOUD punk band ... loud drummer, 2 guitars etc. the 1001rb has NO problem being heard or cutting thru in that situation.

i played an ampeg b2r at a jam ... me 1 guitarist and a drummer (not even close to as loud as my band's drummer) and i HATED the b2r. it just didnt have the volume. couldnt cut. it wasnt my rig so I have no idea if the head was abused or not but honestly (this particular head in this particular situation) was horrible.

so with tha experience (which could be a fluke) and w/ my experience with the GK 1001rb - id say get the GK 1001rb.

I'm gonna have to give another vote for the GK 1001 RB-II. I've cranked this sucker up full force without even using the -14db Pad and it didnt even flinch. Tons of headroom, pleanty of volume and tone for days (when you use a EBMM through it of course)
