I'm really curious wether there is a significant difference between the sound of (to name another now illicit timber) brazilian, and indian rosewood, having never played the latter. Played a full braz-neck Warrior Isabella and it felt and sounded heavenly. Anyone have the hands-on experience to differentiate?

On topic: a company like Gibson should know exactly where the wood comes from. It's too big an issue to screw around with exotic timber nowadays. If they knew: shame on them. If not: still not very bright.

This is interesting. I'm actually hoping Gibson is not at fault here. They're not EBMM, but they do still make some fine products. I'd rather not pass judgement and let the evidence do the talking.

there is no reason to shut down the thread....I just hope you would put yourselves in Gibsons shoes and if they are innocent that someone would let due process happen.

How many times does this forum get riled up over something without considering the other side? Lets all be fair and hope that Gibson is innocent. ITs better karma

Gibson bashing is easy ... just write the two words : "Neck" and "Breakage" close to each other, and you will have 100 posts in 5 minutes ...
It's better to wait for the results of the investigation. We have to trust justice.

I don't jump in on that many threads, but I felt I had to join in with this. Why is it that I don't recall seeing that many environment related threads here, yet when Gibson are in the mire, people are casting aspersions about there business practise, when we don't know all the facts or details?

Remember there are actual people that work for that company who if Gibson does go down **** creek in this recession, will be out of work. I know they get peoples backs up- I know the Gibson Hendrix Strat and piano was a big Faux Pas, and I know it's daft having signature-signature guitars (Justin Hawkins Les Paul anyone?!), but really there is no need to gloat when rival companies get into difficulty.

Let us all sit safe in the knowledge that we play some of the finest production guitars in existence, and remember how certain big companies are important for the EBMM family... We don't want everyone to know about the guitar worlds best kept secret... shhhh!!! ;)

Here is something to think about- one of my acoustics has by todays standards highly rare wood (Rio bridge etc, brazilian mahogany body). Even though the wood is AT LEAST 50 years old, If I travelled through customs with it could it be taken from me?

Expression is good within reason. I just would love for everyone to hang in the center for awhile and then we can decide how we want to deal with it.

But what have I done to deserve mentioning that there are no environment threads here?
Maybe because we have won awards before it was trendy? Maybe because we voluntarily submit to inspections?

BP has spent a fortune looking for OTHER renewable sources for his guitars, and won awards... and the environmental impact the guitar industry has on the Earth is a major one.........He also made a guitar that just SCREAMS take care of our earth for Nigel Tufnel....Its Guitar industry news... thats why its here....and you will notice that BP is staying neutral and saying for us to do the same until they have their day in court.....but i Agree on the "Signature" signature guitars ...Bonamassa and Slash also have them...as far as Gibsons financial woes ....look around lots of jobs everywhere are going down the toilet....and yip we do have the finest guitars on the planet ....so i am VERY happy that its not Music man in the headlines for this......I dont think its something that BP and Co. would do....

Update 5:26 p.m.: It was the United States Fish & Wildlife Service, not the FBI. Also, no charges have been filed.

It's a good point to make about the constant search for renewable alternatives. It's one of the things that I really love about EBMM, that they're not content to sit on the past methods of construction and material usage and are always on the look out for new techniques and materials to use.

I hope that one day they finally find the magic ingredient that has both the sound we're after and the sustainability for future years.

I'm not judging, but I am saying that it must be a huge headache dealing with an event like that, no matter the outcome.

That being said, I cut down 5 trees in front of my house before work this morning, none of which were Rosewood from Madagascar.

I was just saying that I felt a "bashing vibe" coming that's all. I agree that we need to let the courts and the law figure this one out. Being judged before all the facts are present sucks.

I'll bet that until this investigation runs its course, all the guitars they're building will be 'distressed'.
