After a few months of different bass trades, my last trade has made it a full circle.
I bought this over the summer & wasn't happy w/ the finish(I thought I looked dorky w/ it:

I then traded it for this:

I liked the bass but wasn't crazy about the sound & didn't like the mounting of the bridge p/u.
I then traded it for this (now don't flame me):

Now on this one I hated EVERYTHING but the sound SOOOOO this one lasted at my house for a total of 2 weeks...it was traded immediately & this was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday:

After playing it last night It felt like home. As it stands I'm done trading for awhile.

Well, happy ending story and that is a very cool finish on the last SR5.

I don't know how can you llok "dorky" with a natural/rosewood SR - I think naturals are pretty much universal. But it would have looked better with a tortoise pickguard.

Ditto on the Warwick. .. What were you thinking? I also love how Warwicks sound, but the ergonomics are close to being the worst in the bass industry.

I HAD to try one at least once & I figured I would be able to get a better trade for it than the G&L....which ultimately I did. Some of the trade offers for the G&L were rediculous....I had the Warwick/SR5 trade done within a day of posting it.
As far as looking dorky with it....I thought I did.....not that it's a bad bass BUT I watched a video of me playing it & it's just not me. You are so right about the p/g...I had those thoughts before I traded it.

OK, I had a similar odyssey which coursed over a year. It began with this which was $99 at Music Go Round:

Which begot this Sting bass:

Which begot this Jazz Deluxe 5'er bass

Which begot this jazz Deluxe fretless 4:

Which begot the this Stingray which I love to death (now with a vintage tort guard):

ooh man I want one of those deep impact pedals...I think they start at about USD400 / USD500 on Ebay (too much too much for something I cant play with first).... and unfortunately are no longer made, rumour has it though that they are the bestestestest synth pedal made. drool

Glad you're happy Bark. I'm glad to be done with my love/hate relationship with that bass.

This deal also gives me a much better excuse to make a move on one of those 20th Anniversary SR5s when the time comes. Oh yeah, the Bongo 6 too.

Is that last one Lava Pearl???
Yep.

I just really like the look of the white p/u - p/g combo.
