It is my understanding that EB flats are tin plated steel.
tkarter said:Mark I have heard that EB flats are comparable to chromes. Have you ever tried that to know one way or another if that would be correct?
Aussie Mark said:Tom, I haven't tried EB flats, so can't compare.
prickly_pete said:I have been playing a bass with fairly heavy flats for the last month. I pulled out a Jazz bass last night and put an old set of TIs on it, but took them off after about two minutes, because they felt like overcooked noodles. I could get used to them I'm sure, but then I wouldn't be able to play the heavier flats that I like. btw, EB flats are very good strings, and I'm suprised they don't get more attention on this forum. Jack you need to put a set on one of your basses and gush over them a bit, then 3/4 of the people on this forum would actually give them a try![]()
NoFrets80 said:well, i got the brite flats on the SUB, and i love them! they've just a bit higher tension than i am used to with rounds, and very smooth & punchy. i realize they're not "true flats" by the purists' definition, but they definitely will work for my needs, and they mellow out the brightness of the bass considerably.
tkarter said:Thanks, I have never noticed tension problems with TI strings. To me more tension on a string such as the 9050 Fender strings just amounts to thump and thud.
I like the mids that the Ti flats offer. I am going to try EB flats and see if I may become surprised. If so I haven't a problem saying tom is going to play EB flats.
